Arkansas Fatherhood and Family Initiative: Fathers Empowered and Engaged to Learn (FEEL)

Link to this post 01 May 14

A task force has been formed to work on a statewide fatherhood initiative. The purpose is to identify ways to engage fathers in their child's education and life. The Task Force will identify resources and activities to improve fatherhood engagement in the state of Arkansas.

The officers for the task force are:

Chair: Ivory Daniels
Co-Chair: Cecil McDonald
Secretary: Jackie Hale
Treasurer: Ava Coleman
Parliamentarian: Robert Ousley
Historian: Anarella Cellitti
Advisor: Jackie Govan

The fatherhood team will identify a "Fantastic Father" in the State of Arkansas each quarter. A fantastic father is one who engages in their child's education and life from birth to adulthood. Are you that Fantastic Father?

Please mark your calendars for the Fatherhood Meetings and Events:

  • Annual "Reading is Electric" Read-A-Thon: Engaging Fathers in Reading to Children

  • Region VI/Arkansas Head Start Institute featuring fatherhood speaker, Patrick Mitchell

  • Back to School: High Five Dads-beginning this Fall in School Districts across the state

  • Fatherhood Holiday Special Event-where dads are presented toys to engage with their children

In 2017, the Fatherhood Initiative will invite fathers to participate in a Statewide Fatherhood Mentoring Program in five school districts across the state. Information will be sent out in July. Please share with everyone you know, so that we can get motivated fathers to be a part of this mentoring process.
