A task force has been formed to work on a statewide fatherhood initiative. The purpose is to identify ways to engage fathers in their child's education and life. The Task Force will identify resources and activities to improve fatherhood engagement in the state of Arkansas.
The officers for the 2017-2019 task force are:
Chair: Ivory Daniels
Co-Chair: Cecil McDonald
Secretary: Ed Wallace
Assistant Secretary: Candice Williams
Treasurer: Paul Hankins
Parliamentarian: Angie White
Historian: Landrei Hankins
Advisor: Jackie Govan
The fatherhood team will identify a "Fantastic Father" in the State of Arkansas each quarter. A fantastic father is one who engages in their child's education and life from birth to adulthood. Are you that Fantastic Father?
Please mark your calendars for the Fatherhood Meetings and Events:
Annual "Reading is Electric" Read-A-Thon: Engaging Fathers in Reading to Children
Back to School: High Five Dads-beginning this Fall in School Districts across the state
Fatherhood Holiday Special Event-where dads are presented toys to engage with their children
Dads Reading on the Carpet
In 2017 through 2018, the Fatherhood Initiative will invite fathers to participate in a Statewide Fatherhood Mentoring Program in five school districts across the state. The high school fatherhood mentor program consists of the following locations Blytheville, Texarkana, Little Rock, Fort Smith, and West Helena. In 2019, we hope to double the mentoring locations in the state to 10 high schools. Please share with everyone you know, so that we can get motivated fathers to be a part of this mentoring process.
