Early Head Start-Child Care Partnerships

Link to this post 04 Aug 15

The State of Arkansas has been awarded a grant from the President's Early Learning Initiative to provide high-quality early childhood services to children at-risk in Early Head Start programs. There are three programs in the State of Arkansas: Community Services Office (CSO), Arkansas Early Learning, Inc. (AEL), and University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB). These three programs provide services to over 400 children in Arkansas.

The Early Head Start/Child Care Partnership grant provides opportunities for programs to serve children at-risk in high-quality programs. It also provides a great partnership between Early Head Start and Child Care. These two partners blend their funding (Early Head Start and Child Care Development Fund (CCDF)) to provide these high quality services.

Programs need to be aware of the opportunity for Early Head Start Performance Standards Training which is scheduled for Thursday, February 4, 2016, 9:30 am-3:00 pm. Grantees and partners will learn the importance of infant and toddler safety and educational standards. The training agenda will also cover updates on CCDF, Early Head Start, and other information from comment cards. Each program has been asked to invite at least two teachers for the educational training. We will have four to six exhibitors (Family Engagement, Infant Mental Health, Better Beginnings, and Lakeshore Learning Materials). Everyone is welcome to attend.
